Leader of the Year

This award recognises how outstanding leadership in the private or public sector has improved organisational performance or the wider sector. The judging panel is looking for evidence of decision-making under pressure, overcoming challenges and regional influence beyond their own organisation.

Offshore Wind Company of the Year

This award is for a company working in any area of the industry which can demonstrate real delivery and commercial success relative to its scale. The judging panel is looking for evidence of alignment with national offshore wind priorities, supply-chain strength and regional benefit.

Ports & Logistics Company of the Year

This award is for the company which can demonstrate how it has strengthened port or logistics capability in the past year. The judging panel will want to see the role applicants play in enabling offshore wind, renewables or maritime sector growth.

Renewable Energy Project of the Year

This award is for a project that produces clean power, is built to the highest of standards and encapsulates the area’s expertise. The category is open to schemes of any scale, from multi-million pound developments to micro-generation programmes. The applicant business could be focused on renewables or from the public or educational sectors.

Small Business of the Year (under 50 employees)

This award is for a business with fewer than 50 employees which has capitalised on an opportunity in the renewables market. The winner will be able to demonstrate fast growth, a healthy profit and a solid plan for the future. It could be a company set up solely to work in green energy or a traditional business which has diversified.

Large Business of the Year (over 50 employees)

This award is for a business with more than 50 employees which has capitalised on  an opportunity in the renewables market. The winner will be able to demonstrate fast growth, a healthy profit and a solid plan for the future. It could be a company set up solely to work in green energy or a traditional business which has diversified.

Innovation of the Year

This award will recognise an innovative project in offshore wind, renewables or maritime which has made a substantial difference for example in developing a different business model, refining existing technology or creating a brand new solution.

Skills & Training Award

This award will celebrate those organisations which have done most to create or develop a much-needed skills base in the region. The category is open to employers, specialist centres and education providers.

Health & Safety Award

This award is for initiatives which have been implemented demonstrating a keen and effective commitment to a strong safety culture. The judging panel will be looking at how health and safety is embedded in the culture of an organisation. They also want to see measurable improvements and reduced risk through proactive a preventative approach.

Apprentice of the Year

This award is for an apprentice who is proving to be an outstanding trainee. They will have demonstrated personal and technical growth, be a positive role model and be widely recognised by their employer and peers. The judging panel will be looking for how they have overcome challenges, contributed to their organisation and helped other colleagues.

Education Programme of the Year

This category will reward the educator which has done most to promote the value of clean power and understand the opportunities it brings. It could be as part of an energy qualification or learning programme run by a university of college, private training organisation or a one-off project at a primary or secondary school. Entries will be able to demonstrate what the aims of the project were, how they were achieved and any feedback from students.
